The First 2016 International Conference on Data Science Held in Shanghai

The 2016 International Conference on Data Science have been hold from Dec 16th to 19th in Shanghai. About 100 speakers and over 300 delegates from academia and industry participated in the conference.



 The 2016 International Conference on Data Science aimed at promoting academic research and education on data science, and exchanging ideas of developments and applications of Big Data to disciplinary sciences and industry. It was the first international conference organized by the School of Data Science in Fudan University. The conference shared a joint effort together with Fudan’s Innovative Science Forum.



 The conference was honored to have four keynote speakers: Professor Michael I. Jordan, the Pehong Chen Distinguished Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the Department of Statistics at the University of California; Professor Wen Gao, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Professor Michael Franklin, the professor in University Chicago, and Professor Jianqing Fan, the professor in Princeton and the dean of School of Data Science in Fudan University.



 The conference successfully invited many distinguished speakers to share their research ideas with many young researchers and students. The conference also provided young researchers a platform to encourage them to set up parallel sessions in proposed topics, such as high-dimensional data, industrial big data, network analysis etc. The conference organized twenty-one sessions in the two days.



 The 2016 International Conference on Data Science is hosted by the School of Data Science in Fudan University. The second International Conference on Data Science will continue to be held at Shanghai in 2017.
